Origin: Originally a borrowing from French. Perhaps also partly a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymons: French revigorer , -ate suffix3; reinvigorate v.
Etymology: Originally < French revigorer revigour v. + -ate suffix3. In later use perhaps partly a typographical error for reinvigorate v. Compare post-classical Latin revigorare (11th cent.; from 13th cent. in British sources). Compare earlier revigour v.
transitive. To reinvigorate.rare after early 20th cent.; later examples may be typographical errors for reinvigorate.
