Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: bio- comb. form, analysis n.
Etymology: < bio- comb. form + analysis n. In sense 1 after German Bioanalyse ( S. Ferenczi Versuch einer Genitaltheorie (1924) x. 125). Compare bioanalyst n.
1. Chiefly Psychoanalysis. In the terminology of S. Ferenczi: the application of psychoanalytic theory to biology, esp. to aspects of human psychosexual development and functioning. Now rare or disused.
