Etymology: < Middle French révulsif, adjective (1538; in 19th cent. also as noun) < classical Latin revuls- , past participial stem of revellere (see revel v.2) + French -if -ive suffix. Compare post-classical Latin revulsivus, adjective (1542 or earlier), Italian revulsivo, noun (a1698).
Medicine. Now rare.
