单词 restorement
释义

restorementn.

Brit. /rᵻˈstɔːm(ə)nt/, U.S. /rəˈstɔrm(ə)nt/, /riˈstɔrm(ə)nt/
Forms: late Middle English restorment, late Middle English– restorement.
Origin: Of multiple origins. Partly a borrowing from French. Partly formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: French restorement ; restore v.1, -ment suffix.
Etymology: Partly < Anglo-Norman and Middle French restorement reparation, compensation (second half of the 12th cent. in Old French; in Anglo-Norman also in sense ‘repayment‘ (1215 in the Magna Carta); < restorer restore v.1 + -ment -ment suffix), and partly (especially in later use) restore v.1 + -ment suffix. Compare post-classical Latin restauramentum repayment, compensation, restocking (from 12th cent. in British sources), Old Occitan restauramen compensation (c1200), repayment (c1260), Catalan restaurament restoration (14th cent.), Spanish restauramiento restoration (1296), Italian ristoramento (13th cent.; also †restauramento ). Compare earlier restauration n.1, restorance n., restore n., restoring n., and also restoration n.
Now rare (occasionally archaic).
The act of restoring; restoration, restitution.
