Etymology: < Middle French ressentiment (see resentment n.). Compare resentment n., ressentiment n.In form risentiment probably after Italian risentimento (see resentment n.). More recent (19th-cent. and later) examples of resentiment probably represent misspellings or typographical errors for either resentment or ressentiment.
Obsolete.
