Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin repandus.
Etymology: < scientific Latin repandus ( Linnaeus Philosophia botanica (1751) 44), specific use of classical Latin repandus spread out, flattened back < re- re- prefix + pandus arched, bowed (see pandation n.). Compare slightly earlier repanded adj. Compare also earlier repandous adj.
Chiefly Botany.
Esp. of a leaf: having a weakly sinuate margin; slightly wavy.
