1964 Maas & Clark in Jrnl. Molecular Biol. 8 365 The term regulon is proposed to describe such a system in which the production of all enzymes can be controlled by a single repressor substance. Two types of regulons can be distinguished, those in which the structural genes for the enzymes are adjacent to each other (histidine, tryptophan) and which thus consist of single operons, and those in which they are not (arginine) and which thus consist of several operons.
1976 Ann. Rev. Microbiol. 30 549 Because a single repressor regulates the specific expression of these operons with G3P as the inducer, the system has been referred to as the glp (for glycerophosphate) regulon.
1998 Jrnl. Bacteriol. 180 1402 E. coli responds to such drugs by inducing the SoxRS regulon, which positively regulates synthesis of SOD.
2006 Science 19 May 1043/1 We..show a mechanism for how the CO/FT regulon is controlling a highly adaptive trait for forest trees.
