| 释义 | Register Housen. Scottish. The building appointed for the keeping of the Registers (register n.1 3). In the 18th and 19th centuries usually called the General Register House.The Registers were kept in the Castle in Edinburgh from about the 13th cent. A new building called Register House was designed by Robert Adam, and built between 1774 and 1786 at the east end of Princes Street in Edinburgh, where it still stands, no longer used for its original purpose.
