Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin relolleum , -ous suffix.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin relolleum (1590) + -ous suffix. Compare earlier relollacean adj., relollaceous adj.Post-classical Latin relolleum was apparently invented by Paracelsus, and defined as a ‘virtus ex complexione’, ‘quality arising from the nature or constitution (of a thing)’: compare A. E. Waite tr. Paracelsus Hermetic & Alchemical Writings (1894) II. 178 ff.
