Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: re- prefix, advise v.
Etymology: < re- prefix + advise v. Compare Middle French, French raviser (reflexive) to reconsider (a1370; late 13th cent. in Old French in sense ‘to reflect’), to give new advice (a1630).
In later use chiefly Law.
