Etymology: < German Raspit (C. Hlawatsch 1897, in Ann. des K. K. Naturhist. Hofmuseums 12 33) < the name of Charles Rasp (1846–1907), discoverer of the Broken Hill mines, New South Wales, where the first specimen was found + -it -ite suffix¹.

A tungsten-containing mineral occurring as brownish, yellow, or grey prismatic crystals.Raspite is a lead tungstate, PbWO₄, that is dimorphous with stolzite. Crystal system: monoclinic.
