Origin: Apparently formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: an element of uncertain origin, booze n.
Etymology: Apparently < a first element of uncertain identity + booze n. (although this is apparently first attested later; compare earlier bouse n.1). There is probably no direct connection with rum booze n. at rum adj.1 Compounds.
Now historical.
A type of alcoholic drink made with wine, eggs or milk, sugar, and other ingredients. Cf. rumfustian n.In quot. 1909 = booze n. 1.

1975 Syracuse (N.Y.) Herald-Jrnl. 10 Nov. 23/5 Equally descriptive were the names which the Colonists gave to their alcoholic beverages... ‘Rambooze’ was made from milk, wine and sugar.
