Origin: Apparently formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: an element of uncertain origin, -ock suffix.
Etymology: Apparently < a first element of uncertain origin + -ock suffix. Perhaps compare rap n.4 2, although this is first attested much later. Perhaps compare also English regional (Lincolnshire) rappockin rough play (20th cent.).
In later use English regional (Cumberland).
A contemptible person, a wretch; (in later use) a badly behaved child.
