Any of various compounds which are oxidized derivatives of quinoline containing an oxygen atom bonded to the pyridine ring; spec. any of a group of antibiotics containing a 4-oxo-1,4 dihydroquinoline skeleton, which are used chiefly against Gram-negative bacteria.
