Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; probably modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: pyo- comb. form, cyanic adj.
Etymology: < pyo- comb. form + cyanic adj., probably after French pyocyanique (1886 or earlier). Compare earlier pyocyanine n.
Chiefly Medicine.
Relating to, causing, or involving the production of blue or green pus; relating to or caused by the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Cf. pyocyanine n.
