Etymology: < pycno- comb. form + -lepsy comb. form, after German Pyknolepsie (attributed to F. Schröder by H. Sauer 1916, in Monatsschr. f. Psychiatrie u. Neurol. 40 281).
Medicine.
A form of epilepsy with frequent absence seizures, seen esp. in children; childhood absence epilepsy.
