Etymology: < classical Latin putātōrius used for pruning (2nd or 3rd cent. a.d.) < putāt- , past participial stem of putāre to prune (see putation n.) + -ōrius -ory suffix2. Compare slightly earlier putation n.
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
Of or relating to the pruning of trees. Cf. putation n. 1.
