Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin psoadicus.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin psoadicus sufferer from lumbago (5th cent.), of or relating to the psoas muscles (1775 or earlier, designating lumbago), alteration (after ancient Greek ψόαi psoas muscles: see psoa n.) of post-classical Latin psiadicus suffering from lumbago, sufferer from lumbago (5th cent.: see note) < Byzantine Greek ψυαδικός (4th cent.) < ancient Greek ψύαι or ψυαί , variants of ψόαι (see psoas n.) + -ικός -ic suffix.The post-classical Latin form psiadicus may have been influenced by ancient Greek ψοιαί, variant of ψυαί.
