Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: proto- comb. form, Latin māla.
Etymology: < proto- comb. form + classical Latin māla jaw (see malar adj. and n.).
Zoology. Now disused.
A. S. Packard's name for: either of the mandibles of a myriapod. Cf. deutomala n. at deuto- comb. form 2.
