Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin prōgredī.
Etymology: < classical Latin prōgredī to go forward, proceed (see progredient adj.), after prograde adj. Compare slightly earlier regrede v. N.E.D. (1908) gives the pronunciation as (progrī·d) /prəʊˈgri:d/.
Astronomy. Obsolete.
intransitive. To move in a direct (prograde) direction.Apparently an isolated use.
