Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin prō rē nātā.
Etymology: < classical Latin prō rē nātā in the circumstances, lit. ‘for the affair born’ < prō pro prep. + , ablative of rēs thing, affair (see res n.1) + nātā , ablative feminine of nātus born, past participle of nāscī to be born (see nascent adj.).
