Compare scientific Latin †Priacanthina, former subfamily name ( A. C. L. G. Günther Catal. Acanthopterygian Fishes Brit. Mus. (1859) I. 215). N.E.D. (1908) gives the pronunciation as (prəiˌăkæ·ṅþəin) /ˌpraɪəˈkænθaɪn/.
