Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: pre- prefix, done adj.1
Etymology: < pre- prefix + done adj.1 In sense 1 apparently after fordone adj. by misinterpretation of the prefix as fore- prefix. With sense 2 compare earlier foredone adj. at fore- prefix 1b(b)(i).
