Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin accidiosus.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin accidiosus listless, slothful (8th cent.) < accidia accidie n. + classical Latin -ōsus -ous suffix. Compare Middle French accidieux (13th cent. in Old French). Compare also Anglo-Norman accidius (noun) slothful person (13th cent.). Compare acedious adj.
