单词 postulative
释义

postulativeadj.

Brit. /ˈpɒstjᵿlətɪv/, /ˈpɒstʃᵿlətɪv/, U.S. /ˈpɑstʃələdɪv/, /ˈpɑstʃəˌleɪdɪv/
Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Perhaps also partly formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: Latin postulāt- , postulāre , -ive suffix; postulate v., -ive suffix.
Etymology: Originally < classical Latin postulāt-, past participial stem of postulāre to demand (see postulate v.) + -ive suffix. In later use perhaps independently < postulate v. + -ive suffix.
Of or relating to, or of the nature of postulation; put forward as a postulate, axiomatic.
