Etymology: < classical Latin posthabit-, past participial stem of posthabēre to treat as less important, to subordinate < post- post- prefix + habēre to hold, have (see habit n.). N.E.D. (1907) gives the pronunciation as (pōustˌhæ·bit) /pəʊstˈhæbɪt/.
Obsolete. rare.
