Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymon: Greek πολυτροϕία.
Etymology: < Hellenistic Greek πολυτροϕία excess of nourishment < πολυτρόϕος (see polytrophic adj.) + ancient Greek -ία -y suffix3; compare -trophy comb. form. In sense 2 after polytrophic adj.
