Etymology: < Hellenistic Greek πολυσχήματος composed of various metres ( < ancient Greek πολυ- poly- comb. form + σχηματ- , σχῆμα schema n.) + -ic suffix. Compare earlier polyschematist adj.
Prosody.
Designating a classical metre in which feet not metrically equivalent to the normal ones may be substituted for them; having many metres.
