Etymology: < Middle French pointure pricking, sting (late 11th cent. in Old French; French pointure , now only in the specific senses ‘size of shoes, gloves, etc., expressed in points; point-hole in printing’) < classical Latin punctūra puncture n. Compare Old Occitan, Occitan pontura (a1250), Old Occitan ponchura (late 13th cent.), Catalan puntura (13th cent.), Spanish puntura (a1450).
Obsolete.
