Etymology: < French porte-bonheur something which brings luck (1706), amulet or talisman (1859), type of bracelet (1874) porte- porte- comb. form + bonheur luck (see eure n.).
Now rare.
An amulet, or a trinket worn like an amulet; (also) something that brings good luck.
