Etymology: < neology n. + -ian suffix; compare -logian comb. form. With use as noun compare German Neologe (1791 or earlier in theology). Perhaps compare also French néologien (1723 as noun in sense ‘person who coins new words’). Compare earlier neologic adj., neological adj.
