Etymology: < classical Latin plūris, genitive of plūs more (see plus prep., n., adv., and adj.) + petītiō petition n. Compare post-classical Latin plus petitio excessive claim (1227 in a British source).
Civil Law (chiefly Scots Law).
The action of seeking for more judicially than is actually due.
