Origin: A variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymon: English POG.
Etymology: < POG (acronym < the initial letters of passion-fruit, orange, guava), a proprietary name for a juice drink originally made by a dairy on Maui, Hawaii.
Originally U.S. (Hawaii).
In singular: a cardboard or plastic disc (originally obtained from the lid of a juice or milk bottle), usually printed with a design or picture and collected and swapped by children. Also in plural: the name of any of various children's games played with a series of such discs, esp. a game in which the player strikes a pile of discs with an implement, winning any that flip over.
