(1860) 989/2 Podion, podium, applied by Illiger to the junction of the toes at the extremity of the tarsus, upon which the leg rests in birds; to the inferior part of the limb, comprehending, before, the carpus, metacarpus, and toes; behind, the tarsus, metatarsus, and toes in the Mammifera.
