Etymology: < ancient Greek ποδ-, πούς foot (see -pod comb. form) + -iatry comb. form. Compare podiatrist n. and slightly later podiatric adj.
Medicine (originally and chiefly North American).
Chiropody; spec. the branch of medicine that deals with the foot, esp. with its bones and with the mechanics of walking.
