Etymology: < classical Latin Plautīnus of or belonging to Plautus or his works, typical of Plautus < Plautus , the name of Plautus (died b.c. 184), Roman comic dramatist + -īnus -ine suffix1. N.E.D. (1907) gives only the pronunciation (plǭ·təin) /ˈplɔːtaɪn/.
Of, relating to, or in the style of the Roman comic dramatist Plautus.
