Etymology: < please v. + -ed suffix1. In sense 1 in translations of post-classical Latin placitum , noun (see placitum n.); compare also Anglo-Norman ploud , past participle of plaisir please v. (first half of the 12th cent. in this sense, in bien ploude chose pleasing thing).
