Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: pine n.2, -ery suffix.
Etymology: < pine n.2 + -ery suffix. Compare French pinière pine plantation (1569 in Middle French as pinniere in an apparently isolated attestation, subsequently from 1820). Compare earlier pinewood n. 2.With sense 1 compare pine n.2 3.
1. A place in which pineapples are grown. Now rare.
