Etymology: < ancient Greek πληγή blow, stroke (see plaga n.) + -ic suffix, with apparently arbitrary insertion of -n-, perhaps after technic adj., mechanic adj., lenic adj., or ignic adj., all of which also occur in Sturtevant.
Obsolete. rare.
