Etymology: < scientific Latin pilimictio (1749) < classical Latin pilus hair (see pilo- comb. form) + post-classical Latin mictio (see miction n.).The form pilimictia is also attested:1915 Lancet 7 Aug. 294/1 It is now recognised that pilimictia is a phenomenon due to the rupture into the bladder of dermoid cysts containing hair.
