Etymology: < phrase v. + -er suffix1. Compare French phraseur (1788), Italian fraseggiatore (a1704). Compare slightly earlier phrasemonger n. at phrase n. Compounds 2.
A deviser or user of (esp. distinctive or striking) phrases; a phrasemonger. In later use also: a person who shapes musical phrases (well, badly, etc.).
