Etymology: < classical Latin pignerātīcius (in post-classical Latin also pignoraticius) of or connected with a pledge, pledged ( < pignerāt- , past participial stem of pignerāre pignorate v. + -īcius : see -itious suffix1) + -ous suffix.With pignoratitious action (see quot. 1732) compare classical Latin actiō pignerātīcia.

Relating to objects pledged or pawned. Also: pledged.
