Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: phono- comb. form, -genic comb. form.
Etymology: < phono- comb. form + -genic comb. form, after photogenic adj. (see photogenic adj. 4). Compare French phonogénique (1929 or earlier).
Well suited to electrical or mechanical sound reproduction; esp. (of a voice, musician, etc.) that produces a particularly pleasing sound when recorded.
