1991 Pretty Good Privacy in alt.privacy (Usenet newsgroup) 7 June PGP combines the convenience of RSA public key cryptography with the speed of conventional cryptography, fast message digests for signatures, data compression, and sophisticated key management.
1995 Internet World Feb. 36/3 For confidentiality, PGP encrypts messages with an efficient single-key or conventional encryption algorithm known as IDEA.
