Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element; probably partly modelled on a Latin lexical item, and partly modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: Latin perspīrāre , -able suffix.
Etymology: < classical Latin perspīrāre perspire v. + -able suffix, probably partly after post-classical Latin perspirabilis capable of perspiring (a1540), Middle French, French perspirable capable of perspiring (1561), permeable (16th cent.). Compare later perspire v.
Now rare.
