Etymology: < post-classical Latin perspicabilis visible, remarkable (4th cent.), (also) shrewd, perspicacious (6th cent.) < classical Latin perspicere to see through, look closely into, discern, perceive (see perspective adj.) + -ābilis -able suffix, after e.g. post-classical Latin conspicabilis conspicable adj. ( < classical Latin conspicārī beside conspicere).
1. That can be seen through; transparent. Also figurative. Obsolete.
