释义 | † phoceninen. Chemistry. Obsolete. A liquid fat, the triglyceride of phocenic (isovaleric) acid, obtained from porpoise and dolphin oil. ΚΠ 1837 W. T. Brande in Todd's Cycl. Anat. & Physiol. II. 234/2 Phocenine is a peculiar fatty substance contained in the oil of certain species of porpoise. c1865 J. Wylde Circle of Sci. I. 99/1 Many of the animal oils..contain a volatile fat, which gives them their peculiar odour. In..whale and seal oils, this is called phocenine. 1882 H. Watts Dict. Chem. (new ed.) II. 309 The first of these three oils when again treated with alcohol, yielded a new liquid (phocenin) containing 2·7 pts. glycerin to 10 pts. of valeric acid.
