Etymology: < Anglo-Norman pernor, pernour, pernur, pernir, parnour (c1290 or earlier in this sense), variants of Anglo-Norman and Old French preneor , Anglo-Norman and Middle French preneur taker (c1200 as prendeor in Old French; French preneur ) < pren- , stem of prendre (see prender n.) + -eor , -eur -or suffix. Compare mainpernor n.
