The monetary unit was the silver mark, divided into 100 pennia... A monetary reform in 1963 introduced a new markka equivalent to 100 old markkaa. The types of the former 1 and 5 markkaa coins have been retained for the new 1 and 2 pennia pieces in bronze.
2003 Irish Times (Nexis) 1 Feb. 5 Finnish authorities chose not to circulate the smallest euro coins..on the grounds that Finns did not bother with the Finnish coin of equivalent value, the 10-penni piece.
