Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin perīculōsus.
Etymology: < classical Latin perīculōsus dangerous, full of danger < perīculum danger, peril (see peril n.) + -ōsus -ous suffix. Compare Middle French périculeux (1576; re-formed in French in the 19th cent.), Italian pericoloso , periculoso (a1294 as periculoso ), German perikelos , perikulos (c1478). Compare earlier perilous adj.
